Random Acts of Kindness Day (February 17)

Random acts of kindness have been proven to boost our mood and mental health. They can make us feel connected, give us a sense of purpose, and let others know that they are appreciated. Acts of kindness don’t go unnoticed and can have a huge impact on the overall positivity of a workplace and community.

Join in the movement to make kindness the norm. Kindness is not limited to one day of the year; every day is a good day to spread kindness.

Remember, spreading kindness can be as simple as saying hello to a stranger, holding the door open, or wishing someone a great day. Sometimes it’s the smallest gesture that can have the biggest impact on someone’s day.

Announcement – Andrea Docherty, Director, Regional Cancer Care Northwest

It is with mixed emotions I announce that Andrea Docherty has resigned from her position at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) as Director, Regional Cancer Care Northwest. Her final day with TBRHSC is March 7, 2022.

Andrea joined TBRHSC in 2012 as the Manager, Outpatient Nursing & Clinic Operations. In 2014, she took on the role as Director, Regional Cancer Care Northwest. Since assuming the role as Director, Andrea has lead the formation and execution of the Regional Cancer Plan 4 and she lead the implementation of MOSAIQ, a large-scale electronic medical record project with the goal to improve patient care and safety, across Northwestern Ontario.

I take this opportunity to thank Andrea for her many contributions. Please join me in wishing Andrea well in her future endeavors at Ontario Health North.

Recruitment to fill the Director, Regional Cancer Care Northwest position is underway. In the interim, David McConnell will provide leadership coverage as the Interim Director.

It’s the last week to purchase your tickets for the January Thunder Bay 50/50 Draw, and the jackpot is currently at $530,900 and growing. Tickets are on sale until Friday, January 27 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and can be purchased at www.thunderbay5050.ca.

“To date, there have been 48 Early Bird and Grand Prize draws, which have awarded dozens of winners a combined $8 Million+ in prize dollars.  The proceeds have also helped purchased some vital equipment here at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre,” says Glenn Craig, President and CEO of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.  “Most recently, they have helped purchase a new adjustable operating table and an LED Microscope for our Labour & Delivery department, two pieces of equipment which will help Hospital staff provide the best possible care to our patients”.
