We are excited to announce that Dr. Marian Wettstein has joined the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre as a full-time Urologist in the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Wettstein earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Zurich and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research from the University of Toronto. He completed a urologic oncology fellowship through the Society of Urologic Oncology–accredited program at the University of Toronto, with clinical training at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto General Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital, and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He is certified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Swiss Medical Association, and is a Fellow of the European Board of Urology.
With extensive expertise in uro-oncology, especially bladder and prostate cancer, Dr. Wettstein has advanced urological care through his clinical work and prolific research. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and earned prestigious awards, including the BJUI Americas Prize and the Canadian Urological Association Prize Essay Award. His skills also include advanced clinical epidemiology, biostatistics, and health services research, reflecting his dedication to evidence-based patient care.
