To date, Omnicell AMDU’s have been implemented in the Emergency and Critical Care departments, floors 2 and 3 as well as 1A.

AMDU’s are mechanical systems that store medications, allow controlled access of medications by authorized personnel only, and capture all transactional information. These cabinets are interfaced with Meditech™ and maintain a profile of the patient’s medication orders.  The Omnicell units will replace the current 24 hour unit dose medication cart exchange from pharmacy. AMDU’s are proven to reduce medication incidents, reduce drug diversion and waste, provide tool(s) for investigating drug diversion, and improve patient safety.

The teamwork shown during these extraordinary times with COVID has been outstanding and has played a key role in the success of this implementation.

If you have any questions regarding the Omnicell AMDU’s, please do not hesitate to contact your unit Clinical Nurse Specialist and designated SuperUsers.
