I am is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Andrea MacDougall as Medical Director, Cardiovascular Services, for a three-year term.
In this role, Dr. MacDougall will provide clinical and strategic leadership for the Cardiovascular Services Program, working within the Hospital’s shared leadership model alongside administrative leadership, physician leaders, and regional partners to advance cardiovascular care across Northwestern Ontario.
As Medical Director, Dr. MacDougall will support the development and implementation of the program’s clinical vision and strategic priorities, while promoting quality improvement, evidence-informed practice, and equitable access to cardiovascular services. She will play a key role in guiding program development, strengthening regional cardiovascular networks and care pathways, supporting the adoption of innovative technologies and procedures, and fostering collaboration across departments and disciplines to enhance patient outcomes.
Dr. MacDougall has been a member of the Professional Staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre since 2011, serving as an Interventional and Clinical Cardiologist. She previously held the role of Medical Director, Cardiovascular Sciences and is returning to the role to continue strengthening the implementation of program objectives. She completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Alberta, Internal Medicine and Cardiology training at the University of Saskatchewan, and a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Ottawa. In addition to her extensive clinical expertise, Dr. MacDougall is an Assistant Professor with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University and has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to medical education, research, and leadership. Her contributions to cardiovascular research have been recognized through numerous peer-reviewed publications and participation in national and international clinical trials.
Dr. MacDougall brings a wealth of clinical experience, leadership expertise, and a strong commitment to advancing cardiovascular care for patients throughout our region. Her collaborative approach and dedication to quality improvement will be instrumental in supporting the continued growth and success of the Cardiovascular Program.
