The community’s generosity on Giving Tuesday helped raise $58,484 which will purchase two Panda Infant Warmers and a delivery cart for the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre’s NICU and Labour & Delivery ward. The Foundation’s $48,000 goal to purchase two Panda Infant Warmers was surpassed around 6:00 pm, and a new “stretch goal” of an additional $10,000 to purchase a delivery cart for the Labour & Delivery ward was introduced. With the funds raised, all three pieces of equipment are on their way to the Hospital.
“We cannot thank the community enough on Thank You Thursday,” says Glenn Craig, President & CEO of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation. “The day is all about Philanthropy, and once again our community rallied together and in turn we are able to purchase some great equipment for the Labour & Delivery ward. We exceeded our fund raising goal, and with the additional money raised we were able to purchase additional equipment. This would not have been made possible without our matching gift partners, who generously matched donations dollar for dollar.”
This year’s matching gift partners included:
- Dr. Rhonda Crocker Ellacott, President & CEO of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre and CEO of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute, $10,000
- Rainbow Printers, $5,000
- Gary & Leslie Savitsky, $5,000
- Alex & Vince Mirabelli, RE/MAX First Choice Realty, $1,000
Dr. Rhonda Crocker Ellacott expressed so much gratitude towards both donors and Hospital staff for their generosity shown on this day of giving. “Giving Tuesday is such a great initiative and I cannot thank the donors and health care workers enough. The equipment being purchased will not only help our patients, but will also help our staff to provide the best possible care they can. Each donation, no matter how big or small, has helped provide better health care at our Hospital.”
