Spring is here, and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) grounds are looking much cleaner, greener, and beautiful thanks to the efforts of this fantastic group!
On May 31, 2024 our Hospital’s Green Team partnered with staff from various departments at TBRHSC to participate in EcoSuperior’s Annual Spring Up to Clean Up challenge.
This team was successful in collecting 232 lbsof litter from the Hospital Grounds! #SpringUpTbay
Hey Thunder Bay and District, the Active Commute Challenge (ACC) is back for June 2024! The ACC encourages you to rethink your ride (car) and replace it with something active like walking, cycling, taking the bus, jogging, rollerblading . . . you get the idea!
Join others at your workplace to complete against other workplaces in the City and District! By signing up you can track your commutes, see your team’s progress and keep track of your closest competitors on the leaderboard! There are also lots of great individual and team prizes to be won!
Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre’s Pride Committee is excited to announce that our Hospital will be hosting a Pride Market — featuring local 2SLGBTQIA+ vendors and ally-owned businesses — on Thursday, June 27.
Interested vendors in our community who would like to participate are encouraged to complete an expression of interest here.
Applications close on Monday, June 10, and vendors will be notified by Wednesday, June 12.
The Pride Market will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the courtyard outside of the Cafeteria (weather dependent).
In celebration of Indigenous Month (June), Sodexo Canada is honored to host a unique event featuring our esteemed Love of Food Ambassador and Indigenous Chef, Paul Natrall. Join us on June 6 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre Cafeteria for a day of culinary excellence and cultural enrichment.
Meet Chef Paul Natrall
Introducing Chef Paul Natrall of the Squamish Nation, an accomplished Executive Chef with 14 years of experience in Indigenous culinary arts. He has journeyed throughout Turtle Island, fervently advocating for Indigenous food traditions. In addition to his role as an Ambassador for Sodexo Canada, Chef Paul is a director and founding member of Indigenous Culinary of Associated Nations and the owner of Mr. Bannock Indigenous Cuisine.

Experience the authentic flavors of Indigenous cuisine as Chef Paul Natrall introduces his signature dishes in the cafeteria retail area. Chef Paul will be present to explain the cultural significance of each dish, providing an engaging and educational experience for all attendees.

Autoimmune Encephalitis in Adults — Presented by Dr. Afshin Soofi

“The Department of Internal Medicine Monthly Rounds is a self-approved group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.”
Objectives: Participants will be able to:
1) Participants will be able to diagnose autoimmune encephalitis appropriately and on time, based on the new Canadian consensus guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune encephalitis
2) Participants will be able to recognize the common pathological and structural changes in patients with Autoimmune encephalitis.
3) Participants will be able to learn about potential first and second lines of treatment along with appropriate approaches in refractory cases.
This event will bring like-minded, curious, and creative people together, in order to encourage collaboration and help put their ideas in motion. Nominated staff will present and share their innovations with their colleagues. The goal of the event is to highlight outstanding innovation occurring throughout the organization and promote a culture of innovative thinking for all staff. Come for coffee and leave with an understanding of the exceptional initiatives going on at work around you.
