Samantha Morris, Health Promotion Project Assistant in Prevention and Screening Clinical Services, won the gold medal at the Canadian Curling Club Championship last week in Ottawa, Ontario.
Team Larocque, consisting of Samantha (third), Tracey Larocque (skip), Corie Adamson (second), and Rebecca Carr (lead) qualified for the weeklong national event in Ottawa after winning the Provincial playdowns in Sault Ste. Marie in November.
Representing team Northern Ontario at the national competition, they finished their round robin with a record of five wins and one loss. Losing their first playoff game to Nova Scotia, the ladies battled back to win their next four in a row. In total, they played 11 games, winning their final game against team Ontario on Saturday with a score of 7 to 5, scoring their final two points in an extra end, to secure the gold medal.
Congratulations to Samantha and Team Larocque!
