As you are likely aware, the TBRHSC/SJCG joint Senior Director of Informatics position has been vacant since the fall of 2020, due to a retirement. Since this time, Byron Ball (VP Infrastructure & Planning, & CFO, SJCG) and I have been providing leadership support to the Informatics team. The Informatics team consists of the Information Systems and Information Technology team, which is shared with SJCG, as well as the Health Records Department at TBRHSC.
In late 2020, hospital partners from across Northwestern Ontario advanced with the recruitment of Cindy Fedell as our Regional Chief Information Officer (CIO). In her role as Regional CIO, Cindy is accountable for advancing digital health maturity across the region. Cindy is an internationally recognized leader in digital and Informatics strategy, transformation and operations. She is a seasoned health care CIO. As Cindy has grown into her role as the Regional CIO, the opportunity presented itself for Cindy to provide coordinated leadership of the Information Systems and Information Technology team.
In response to this opportunity, I am pleased to announce that Cindy Fedell has agreed to take on an expanded leadership role to provide leadership of the TBRHSC/SJCG joint Informatics team, effective June 14, 2021, for a period of 6 months. An evaluation of this interim model will be conducted during the 6 months period to inform how to best utilize the resources provided by the vacant Senior Director position to support the informatics leadership requirements of both SJCG and TBRHSC.
Please note that this interim arrangement only applies to the TBRHSC/SJCG joint Information Systems and Information Technology Team. The Health Records department will continue to report directly to me.
I would like to thank the Informatics Team for their patience and support as we have worked through this transition. The opportunity to provide interim leadership support has provide both Byron and I with a deeper understanding of the operations of the team.
