Employees in Diagnostic Imaging collected $500.00 for the Hospital’s Patient Clothing Cupboard as a way to pay forward the generosity of radiologist, Dr. Mehran Midia. “The reason that we have collected this money is to honour one of our Radiologists, Dr. Midia who is always so generous,” says Julie Grant, Charge Technologist.
“For years, when he is here for the week, he provides the staff daily with coffee, tea, muffins, donuts, bagels, sweets, fruit and once a week a full lunch! His generosity is truly amazing and we felt we needed to show our appreciation in his honour.”
The purpose of the Patient Clothing Cupboard is to provide suitable clothing for a patient to wear and use to facilitate a discharge in situations where the patient/family is unable to provide the necessary clothing.
Every day, nurses, social workers, and other employees of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) visit the Patient Clothing Cupboard to find clean clothing for patients in need.
Two dedicated volunteers, Sonja and Christine, shop for quality, comfortable, low-cost clothing, replenish the cupboard with donated items, and work very hard to keep it tidy.
The Cupboard is funded in very small part by the Volunteer Association to the TBRHSC through funds raised through Seasons Gift Shop. But we rely on the generosity of employees who donate funds or new or gently used leisure wear (ex. T-shirts, sweatshirts, jogging pants, running shoes, jackets) or new socks and underwear.
Thank you again to the Diagnostic Imaging team for your generous donation.
